See what GPA you need from this point forward

If you already have a cumulative GPA, it is useful to know what average GPA you need in the remaining credits to hit your final target.

This tool takes your current GPA, completed credits, target GPA, and remaining credits, and instantly calculates the required GPA for the rest of your courses.

Key features

  • Supports 4.5 / 4.3 / 4.0 GPA scales
  • Reverse-calculates the GPA needed from now on
  • Shows whether the target is realistically achievable
  • Displays the maximum final GPA if you earn the highest grade on all remaining credits

How to use it

  1. Choose the GPA scale used by your school.
  2. Enter your current cumulative GPA.
  3. Enter completed credits.
  4. Enter your target GPA and remaining credits.
  5. Check the GPA you need for the remaining terms.

How the calculation works

  • Current total grade points = current GPA × completed credits
  • Target total grade points = target GPA × final total credits
  • Needed additional grade points = target total grade points - current total grade points
  • Required GPA from now on = needed additional grade points ÷ remaining credits

That means the fewer credits you have left, the harder it can be to move your cumulative GPA.

FAQ

What if my target GPA is already lower than my current path?

Then the tool will show that you are already within target range, because your existing cumulative record is already strong enough.

What if the required GPA is higher than the scale maximum?

For example, if the result is above 4.5 on a 4.5 scale, your target is effectively unreachable with the current remaining credits.

Should I include pass/fail or exchange credits?

It is best to enter only credits that actually affect GPA. Final rules depend on your school’s academic policy.
